Objective
Are you a prospective or new forest owner or manager looking to take control of the management of your property? These educational and practical workshops will enable you to get to grips with the various aspects of managing woodland. These diverse workshops represent an excellent first approach to forestry training. They will give you a good idea of the training courses and field days offered by RFSB throughout the year and may well make you want to sign up for the training module « ForêtFor "You will be given a presentation on the subject during the course of the day.

Program
The day will take the form of various one-hour workshops allowing you to immerse yourself in the forest and discover the basics of its management. Today, you have the opportunity to choose 4 out of the 9 on offer:
| Measuring and cubing timber | Discover the main tree measuring instruments and how to use them. |
| Drawing up a management plan for my forest | What are the advantages of planning the management of my woodland, how do I go about it, consider PEFC certification... |
| Organise a wood sale | Mark the timber, compile a catalogue, draw up a specification document for the logging, get a good price. |
| Choosing a tree suited to your soil | Practical analysis of the soil and its environment to determine which species to plant. |
| Biodiversity enhancements | Ponds, open habitats, dead wood, diversification of tree species: how biodiversity improves the functioning of the forest ecosystem. |
| Designate and outline target trees | Optimise timber quality by choosing future crop trees in a broadleaved stand and working to their benefit (high pruning and freeing). |
| Formative pruning and branch trimming | How to encourage the good conformation of your plantations through appropriate pruning. |
| Mark a thinning in a conifer stand | Why thin your stands, how, how much, tailoring your removal intensity to the species... |
| Passing on your estate to future generations and forestry groups | To best prepare for the transfer of your woodland management to the younger generations, the forestry group might be a suitable arrangement for you. |
